Cape Ann Needs a Magazine to Call its Own
Dear Reader,
One day in early July, we threw ourselves a little party at the fabulous Cruiseport facility on
the harbor front in Gloucester. There was food, wine, music, wonderful conversation, and a short
presentation about the new magazine you are reading.
Since I was the one giving the short presentation, I had the opportunity to look around the room and take in the crowd right before I spoke. Artists, writers, politicians, Chamber officials and business people (ranging from a car dealer and inn owner to paint and decor shop owners and Realtors) stood side by side, laughing and catching up on the latest news.
It struck me when I stood there watching the crowd with the backdrop of fishing boats that this was Cape Ann. This was the reason why Cape Ann needs its own magazine.
Cape Ann is filled with natural beauty. It is inhabited by people who have fished the seas through generations, as well as people who have painted or written about the sea. Some families on Cape Ann live in houses that have more square footage than most families can dream. Others live in small quarters just to be near the sound of gulls and enjoy a sliver of the coastline.
You can dine first class, or eat some Best-in-Class fried clams. You are able to see some of the finest natural scenery or view monuments to those that gave their lives to the fishing industry.
Cape Ann Magazine is about a very special place. I urge you to read it, subscribe to it, and advertise in it. If you are a summer resident, be sure to subscribe and keep up with life on Cape Ann the rest of the year.
Enjoy, and let me know what you think.
